Survey Will Help Veterans, Active Duty Military, Reservists,
Members of the National Guard
Veterans, active duty military, reservists, members of
the National Guard and their family and friends in upstate
South Carolina are invited to complete a survey. The survey
can be found on the internet at http://vovici.com/wsb.dll/s/a381g3b12d.
Counties included are listed on the survey.
The results of the Survey of Upstate Veterans (SUV) will
be made available to community, county, state and federal
leaders. These leaders and local organizations will use
the data to make decisions on budget and policies that could
directly affect veterans and active military.
Dr. Craig Burnette, veteran and retired homeless coordinator
with the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Dr. John
Lefebvre, chair of the Psychology Department at Wofford
College headed the team that developed the survey.
Dr. Burnette is also a member of a group that began to
meet informally over 12 months ago. This group convened
with an interest in assisting local men and women who have
earned respect and gratitude for their service to our nation.
Who should complete the survey?
Upstate veterans, active duty service members, National
Guard members, and Reservists. We also encourage the family
members and friends to complete the survey. With multiple
points of view, we hope to get as complete a picture as
possible.
Why survey Upstate veterans and members of the military?
The veteran community is at a crossroad with changes happening
at all levels. Old ideas and ways of doing things may no
longer be adequate to meet the needs of veterans.
Who recognized the need for a survey?
A group of Upstate residents, many are veterans themselves,
recognize that veterans are some of the Upstates most
valuable resource and honored citizens. They have undertaken
the mission of better understanding the concerns and needs
of our veterans and their families.
What will you do with the information collected?
The information collection will be shared with federal,
state, county, city, and other public officials. The information
will help these officials make more informed decisions that
will have a positive impact on Upstate veterans and their
families.
Is my privacy protected if I complete the survey?
The survey is completely anonymous. Personal information
is not requested. The results of the survey are kept confidential
as required by federal privacy regulations. Once you complete
the survey, you will not be asked any further information
related to this study.
